Turning children into passionate readers…

It’s something we always want to share: the sheer joy of reading. So we publish for all children, whatever books will inspire them to read.

This means all kinds of books for all kinds of children: those stories that have enchanted young readers across many generations, as well as stories by the rising stars who are capturing young imaginations now, and the new talent we’re always discovering.

Of course, it’s more than just the printed book, much as we love it. Reading’s still a pleasure, no matter what the format. So we lead the way with ebooks, apps and new media. What matters to us is reaching as many children as possible, turning those children into passionate readers.

…and turning writers into successful authors

We know what children love, what fires their imaginations. And we know what adults love to share, as parents, teachers, authors. You can see from the books we publish that they generate excitement, create loyalty and build audiences. From award-winning picture books by Jan Fearnley and Kristina Stephenson to classics like Winnie-the-Pooh and The Wind in the Willows.

Children love to laugh, they love to be gripped by suspense; to cry a little, thrill a lot, be a bit scared, get caught up in an imaginative world. Our books – like Andy Stanton’s Mr Gum, Hergé’s Tintin, Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse, Michael Grant’s Gone – open exciting possibilities to young readers of every taste.
