Learning Tips

Through our Learn with Thomas books, parent and child can explore together, and develop key early learning skills. Try these tips to get the most out of your shared reading experience.

Imitation.

Pick out elements on each page to talk about with your child, emphasizing your facial expressions. Children will learn by watching you and communicate by imitating what you do.

Repetition.

Prepare yourself for plenty of re-readings of the story to help develop long-term memory skills – the more times the story is repeated, the quicker children learn.

Add gestures.

Adding movement and physical gestures gives young children a non-verbal way of communicating with you and makes story time fun!

Read together.

Let your toddler hold the book and engage in the play element on each page. Each book adheres to Egmont’s strict safety policy and is durable enough to withstand countless re-readings, to give you peace of mind.

Ask questions.

Relating the stories to your child’s own experiences will involve your child emotionally and increase his/her interest in the book.
