If you've read any of Andy's books then you'll know just how funny words can be when they get put in the right order. Knowing how to string words together in the correct sequence is the tricky bit though and that's just what Andy is good at. Bless 'im.
However, his comedic talents are multifaceted and not simply limited to the written word or, in fact, limited by words at all. Andy is also a king of gestures and mime.
The above photo was taken at a recent book club meeting of Henry Rousso and his pals in North London. At first glance it looks as if Henry is a freak of nature what with the rabbit ears clearly poking out of the top of his head. The more squeamish among you may already have re-coiled in horror and disgust at the sight of 'Henry the rabbit eared boy' (or simply 'Flopsy' as his fellow freaks call him).
But wait. It's a rouse. A prank. A trick of the light. Or rather a trick of the Andy because if you look closely you will see that they are not rabbit ears at all but the fingers (the talented, word writing fingers I should say) of none other than Andy Stanton himself! You can just make out Andy in the back row. He's the hairy one with the grin that says "I'm tricking the world with me fingers". If you are still having trouble locating that master of disguise and camouflage, simply follow the fingers. You see they are attached to an arm and that arm is attached to an Andy.
A simple yet effective trick.
That concludes part one. Don't hold your breath for part two, frankly it may never happen.
It just leaves me to thank Henry (on the right), Aviv (standing next to Henry) and Aviv's Dad (standing behind the camera). And of course, our thanks to the rest of the gang who kindly allowed light to reflect off their bodies and into the camera. Good job.
