You’re A Bad Man, Mr Gum!  by Andy Stanton, has won the Red House Children’s Book Award! Andy’s debut novel won the Younger Readers category and went on to be declared Overall Winner at the award ceremony at the Hay Festival on Friday 1st of June.

The Red House Children’s Book Award is voted for entirely by young readers and previous winners include JK Rowling, Jacqueline Wilson, Roald Dahl, Michael Morpurgo and Anthony Horowitz.

Many people might think that this award was for bravery. For wearing that shirt. But no - this was a well deserved win for the authoring of that darstardly good read, You’re A Bad Man, Mr Gum! If you've not yet read it then you should. Then you'll know what all the fuss is about.

There's that shirt again. Oh and some hair poking out the top as well. Lovely. Still, the award's nice and shiny. Andy will be using it to attract magpies in his back garden. Maybe.
