EGMONT TO PUBLISH A SECOND PICTURE BOOK FROM SAM HAY

Egmont Publishing has acquired world rights for a second picture book from Sam Hay, author of the UKLA longlisted title Billy Angel.

Melissa Fairley, Publishing Director at Egmont Publishing, secured the two-book deal with Gemma Cooper from The Bent Agency. Egmont published their first picture book by Sam Hay, Do Not Wash This Bear, illustrated by Nick East in June 2016.

Star in the Jar is a warm-hearted tale about the friendship between a small boy, his sister and a lost star. It will publish on the 11th January 2018. The picture book will be illustrated by Sarah Massini as part of a two-book deal with Egmont Publishing.

Melissa Fairley said of the title:
“Sam Hay and Sarah Massini have created the perfect picture book. The story is humorous and heart-warming, and Sarah’s artwork beautifully captures the relationship between a big-hearted older sister and her lively little brother.”

Sam Hay has written over 30 children’s books including Do Not Wash This Bear illustrated by Nick East and published by Egmont, the Undead Pets series, published by Stripes and the Screaming Sands trilogy, published by Catnip.

For Sarah Massini, drawing has been a life-long habit which has seen her through careers in corporate design, children’s book design and now as an illustrator. She has illustrated several picture books including Books Always Everywhere, Zac and Zeb and the Make Believe Birthday Party and The Velveteen Rabbit for Nosy Crow. Sarah lives in Sussex.

Star in the Jar by Sam Hay, illustrated by Sarah Massini, will be published by
Egmont Publishing on 11th January 2018 in paperback, price £6.99
