Brands and Characters
In books, we are extremely proud to be the publisher of well-loved favourites such as Thomas the Tank Engine, Mr. Men and Little Miss and Winnie-the-Pooh. These are the characters we grew up with and it’s a delight to be able to share these classics with children today.
The world of children’s brands and characters, however, never stands still. Children are discovering new favourites not just on TV and on the bookshelf – but in online worlds, in immersive games, on tablets, mobiles, PCs and smart TVs.
For us as publishers, it means that there are so many more places where great characters and great stories can unfold, so we’re thrilled to publish brand new favourites such as Minecraft and Angry Birds. At Egmont, our overriding mission is to encourage children to read. We believe that popular characters, whether they are old favourites or the latest playground hit, can play a crucial part in a child’s journey to becoming a reader; and when you’re in the company of Tintin, Tigger or Temple Run, that journey is always bound to be an adventure.
