Emma Chichester Clark

Biography

Emma Chichester Clark lives in London with her husband Rupert and their dog Plum. Born in London but raised in the Irish countryside, Emma started making books at the age of 5, but it was an art project at boarding school that inspired her love for illustration.

Upon completing a degree at the Royal College of Art, Emma began her career by producing illustrations for magazines and book covers.  Soon she was illustrating whole books, and has now written and illustrated many of her own books – such as the popular Melrose & Croc and Blue Kangaroo series – as well as illustrating many great authors’ work, including Michael Morpurgo, Martin Waddell, Saviour Pirotta, Nanette Newman, Colin MacNaughton and Geraldine McCaughrean.

Emma is a winner of the Mother Goose award for Best Newcomer to Children’s Book Illustration, and she has been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway award twice for I LOVE YOU BLUE KANGAROO and ALICE IN WONDERLAND
